On The Road To Being A Great App

I downloaded this app last night and was so excited at the prospect of such an innovative idea for news. I loved the idea of having science-based news available in one convenient place as Im naturally curious minded, so I opened it immediately upon download. Sadly, even after the initial starting of the app, the tutorial page wouldnt disappear. I tried turning my device off and on, closing and reopening the app, and nothing. Id rather not view my news through a grey haze. :/ So while this app looks fantastic, it has a long (buggy) road to greatness, though I have no doubt that in time it will reach its full potential.

Great Idea When Fixed

Ive been looking for an app like this for a long time. Being able to quickly find science info and doing so in a succinct manner is a great idea. Unfortunately, as many have mentioned, the bugs make it near useless. Like others, once there is a bug fix there will be much rejoicing with this user as well as two extra stars.

Needs bug fix for iPads ASAP

This app has been out a little while now, and works fine on iPhones - you can tell the reviews from iPhone-only users since theyre the ones who say they dont know what the bad reviews are talking about. On an iPad, on the other hand (yep, I have both, as you can tell), there are "tutorial" instructions on top of a gray film that hides all the articles, which is fine when the app is first opened, but theres no way to close or "dismiss" the tutorial on an iPad... nor does it automatically disappear on subsequent startups as happens with many apps. So, until an update with a fix is released, its useless to iPad users, at least for most models of iPad. Release that update soon, guys, please!

Broken too bad

I am completely unable to get out of "demo" mode showing the instructions on the screen I can find no way to turn them off so I can not use the app at all. Oh well Im sure they might fix it someday.

Not worth the time, to buggy.

Took the time to download, but it will not work on my iPad. So what good is it

Grey screen

As with many others, the grey screen doesnt disappear on the iPad Air.

Give me a break!

An app ABOUT cutting edge science and they cant remove the grey tutorial screen by now!?

Science

The over lay doesnt go away

How to close tutorial

I just downloaded this app, with some apprehension because of the reviews about not being able to close the tutorial overlay when running the app on iPad. Sure enough, when the app opened, a gray film was over the entire page. I tried poking the button up on the upper left, I believe an option to filter article type. The overlay went away , and I was looking at the menu of article thumbnails. I closed the app, reopened it, and no tutorial overlay appeared. Its working just fine on my iPad now. Maybe choosing any button closes the tutorial, while just scrolling or closing and reopening the app doesnt get rid of it. I am running iOS 7, but I think it would be the same in iOS8.

Great

But the sound doesnt work for some video links

Needs fix

I downloaded this app because it looked very interesting, but like another review stated there are tutorial instructions on top of a gray film that cant be closed so it makes the app useless. Didnt the developers test this before throwing it out for public use? Its obvious they didnt. I deleted the app, but if they come out with a fix, which the app shouldnt have been made available the way it is now, perhaps I will try it again, but as it is its useless. Dissatisfied

get rid of the tutorial screen by pinching

on the iPad you can remove the tutorial screen by pinching through the middle of the screen. I discovered this by playing with the app.

50% Shades of Grey.....

As stated by many, the grey overlay that wont take no for an answer is torturous. It really looks like something I could get into if the blindfold was just a little more opaque. I do have limits for pain, so fix this and I will submit to 5 stars.

** Thank you **

Thanks for the update for iPad users. Was going to give poor rate for initial install for overlay bug that only teased for content you could see and not view. High marks to the team for putting the work in to develop a beautiful app.

Works Just Fine

Earlier I read reviews of this app. Quite a many user seemed unsatisfied. But I found no problem with this app after using it even when Im using iPad mini retina display (I guess this is the wonder of the latest update). The only reason Im giving it a 4star & not 5, is the simple reason that Ive not yet checked the contents of the articles.

Better

App has been fixed and I like it. Good interface and good articles.

Posting problem.

Keyboard overlays & prevents completion of posting articles to Facebook. ;-(

Landscape View

Love the app. Everyone needs to be more scientifically literate. Please give the option of landscape view. Holding the iPad vertically feels so strange. Give the user an option.

Good content, poor execution

The app locks up after sharing an article to social media.

Nice One!

I like this app! Although news updates sometimes get rare. Enjoy the app!
